Northend United 1 Oxford Sunnyside 1 Saturday 12th March 2022
Northend Youth U11s started well against Oxford Sunnyside in this week’s feature and went close in the first 3 minutes with Gordon’s shot deemed offside. Both De Prato and Barr fired up the midfield and again pushed the ball forward to left wing Martin again deemed offside. The defensive trio of Rennie, Mitchell and Cairns were solid and hadn’t much to contend with at the early stages. De Prato won the ball and sent Hector on a quick run down the right again deemed offside. However, when a long ball found a lone Sunnyside striker in front of our keeper deemed onside to tap in to make it one nil. An immediate response from the restart saw Barr drive forward into the half and set Gordon off and this time the striker hit the back of the net. 2 more shots on goal fell to Gordon just before half time, saved by the keeper. Half time 1-1
The second half was the same as the first with several attempts deemed offside for both teams. The set pieces practiced midweek were on show with a well taken free kick from McAuley went inches over the bar and throw ins clearly improved. Gordon again had a number of shots either wide or saved. A lot of good points taken from the game with progress evident week over week. Full time 1-1

Northend United vrs Anderstown Hawks Saturday 5th March 2022
Northend had their work cut out today against a very skillfull Anderstown Hawks. The first half started slow as both sides tried to work each other out, it wasn’t long however before Anderstown had a 3 goal lead. The wee blues fought back with a well worked Barr cross and the one touch volley finish of Gordon to beat the keeper at close range to end the first half. Half time 1-3
The second half started the same with Anderstown having the majority of possession to go 5/1 up but the Wee Blues kicked into gear and again added pressure forced a corner which was neatly slotted in by McBurney. A quick 2 goals were conceded from long range high above the Northend goalkeeper but again the Wee blues pushed hard and Gordon slotted home his second to finish the game 7/3. A lesson today not to let heads go down and work rate needs to be the whole game but plenty of good individual performances.
